DAY 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara
08:00hrs:Today our safari will take us to the jewel of
Kenya's parks, Leave Nairobi via the Great Rift Valley, the
longest rift in the crust of the earth for Maasai Mara Game
Reserve in time for lunch. Lunch to be served at the Mara
Sopa Lodge or Sarova lodge or similar.
This is Kenya's
number one park and is always on every tourist's "Must see atlist". Full of life with various types of animals and
birds, Masai Mara crown's the climax of every safari in
Kenya. Its rolling grasslands and acacia savannah have time
and again been captured on film with the movie "Out Of
Africa" being the most famous. Masai Mara is home to the
"Big Five" (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) and
over 450 bird species. Apart from the big five, the Masai
Mara is most famous for the spectacular annual migration of
over a million wildebeest, zebra, gazelle etc from the
Serengeti in northern Tanzania crossing the Mara River into
Kenya in search of fresh feeding grounds, which takes place
in late July or August. During this crossing, hundreds of
animals are swept away by the first moving Mara River and
others are killed by the ferocious African Crocodiles. This
crossing gives true meaning to the phrase "Survival of the
fittest". Experience the breathtaking view of the Mara
plains and it's wonderful rich wildlife.
1600hrs: Evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the
lodge.
Two full days of game viewing in this natural paradise and
see what it can offer in terms of wildlife and birdlife. The
Black manned lion, leopard, cheetah and buffalo can be seen.
All meals and overnight at the lodge.
DAY 4: Lake Nakuru
08:30 hrs: After breakfast, leave Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru
arriving in time for lunch.Lake Nakuru is known as an
ornithological paradise by birdwatchers because the lake is
world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle
on earth which boasts any where between one and two million
lesser and greater pink flamingos that feed on the abundant
algae thriving in the lakes warm waters. It is one of the
few parks that have been specifically established (Gazetted)
for the protection of birds specifically flamingoes, more
than 450 species of birds have been recorded here.Lake
Nakuru Flamingos. The park has also been established for the
protection of endangered species such as the rhino and is
also home to Columbus monkeys, Leopards, Giraffes, and a
variety of plain antelope. Lake Nakuru National Park is
often described as the “World’s Greatest Bird Spectacle ”.
Dinner and overnight at Nakuru hotel.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Samburu.
Samburu land with unique animals that are rare and endemic
like Somali Ostrich, Grevy Zebra, Gerenuk, Reticulated
Giraffe and Beisa Oryx that was being tamed by a lioness.
Proceed for an early morning game drive in Lake nakuru, then
leave for Samburu, to arrive there in time for Lunch.
Dinner and overnight at Samburu Lodge, Samburu intrepids,
Samburu Serena, Sarova Shaba, or Larsens camp.
DAY 6: Samburu.
Morning and afternoon Game Drive in Samburu Game Reserve.
Lunch and leisure breaks between 1.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m.
All meals and overnight at the lodge.
DAY 7: Amboseli.
Amboseli National Park is located in Loitoktok District,
Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The ecosystem mainly savannah
grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border. The park
is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to
free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Other
attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the
Maasai and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
After breakfast depart for Amboseli National Park via
Nairobi . Lunch and game drive en-route.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
NB: This is a very long drive and its good to start early
enough ( i.e. around 7.30 a.m. )
DAY 8: Amboseli
06:50 hrs: Proceed for an early morning pre-breakfast game
drive. Return to the camp for breakfast. Proceed for a
further game drive. Lunch at the lodge.
Late afternoon game drive returning to the lodge for dinner
and overnight.
DAY 9: Tsavo West National Park
The park is located on south eastern Kenya, 240km from
Nairobi along the western side of Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands,
scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine
vegetation and rocky ridges.
Major wildlife attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos,
lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird
species including the threatened corncrake and near
threatened Basra Reed Warbler.
Early morning proceed for your last game drive as you leave
camp for Tsavo West National Park to arrive in time for
lunch. On arrival in Tsavo, check in at the lodge. 1600hrs:
evening game drive.
Dinner and overnight.
DAY 10: Tsavo East National Park Mzima Springs.
The Joint mass of Tsavo West and Tsavo East National Parks
forms one of the largest National parks in the world and
covers a massive 4% of Kenya’s total land area. Tsavo East
the larger of the two, lies to the east of the Nairobi
–Mombasa road, equidistant between Nairobi and Mombasa, and
offers a vast and untapped arena of arid bush which is
washed by azure and emerald meandering of Galana River.
Guarded by the limitless lava reaches of Yatta plateau and
patrolled by some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya
Visit the Mzima Springs en-route to Tsavo East National Park
where Hippos and crocodile can be seen swimming in the clear
waters. Afternoon game drive in Tsavo East National Park,
check in at the lodge.
Meals and overnight at lodge.
DAY 11: Nairobi
06.50 hrs: After breakfast proceed for a game drive.
After lunch, leave for Nairobi.
