The Northern Tanzania
Camping Safari Circuit is the better known and
most-visited of the two, consisting of the area surrounding
the town of Arusha. The Northern Circuit’s main draw is the
massive Serengeti ecosystem, encompassing the Ngorongoro
Crater Highlands, which is one of the biggest remaining
animal migration routes in the world. Also on the northern
safari circuit are the lesser-known Tarangire, Arusha and
Lake Manyara National Parks.
3 days Ngorongoro
Crater camping safari
The 3 days camping safari takes
you to The Ngorongoro Crater rim which is over 2,200 metres
high, and touched with swathes of clouds for most days of
the year. By contrast the Ngorongoro Crater floor is a
unique habitat where rich volcanic soil and year round water
supply has resulted in a rich and healthy ecosystem
supporting approximately 25,000 of Africa's big game. The
Lerai forest and Lake Magadi filled by the Munge river,
along with the famous hippo pool, are surrounded by vast
plains that cover a crater floor which is up to 20km's wide
(260 sqkm). Even though some of the animals do leave the
confines of the Crater, Ngorongoro is the perfect habitat
for many species, inclining both grazers and predators to
remain throughout the year.
Day 1:

In the morning drive to Ngorongoro Crater. After arrival you
will descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive
(with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater often
described as one of the wonders of the world. It is the
world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a a natural
sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations.
It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can
be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals
migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high
walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras,
hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds
and other species. With a bit of luck the ‘Big Five’ can be
spotted during one game drive only.

The Serengeti is Africa's most
famous park. Renowned for the two million strong wildebeest
'Great Migration' and incredible concentrations of
predators, the Serengeti is a park that guarantees an
exceptional safari. The vast endless grass plains (Serenget
in Maasai) are the richest grazing grounds on the continent;
home to the largest herds on the planet, and the highest
concentrations of predators in Africa. Just focussing on the
Great Migration however would not be doing the park justice
for it is widely believed that if you took the Great
Migration out of the park, the Serengeti is still the finest
park in Africa
