12 Days Kenya and Tanzania wildlife lodge safari, Masai Mara, Lake, Amboseli, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater

A fantastic 12 day Camping Safari to Kenya's Masai Mara Reserve, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro crater one of Africa's best game viewing destinations!

This Safari will start off with a journey to the beautiful Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley which offers spectacular views. On arrival at the Masai Mara Park we will spend our time in search of the wildlife that makes this one of Africa's premier National Parks. The Masai Mara is especially famous for its Large Cat population and also the fact that it plays an integral role in the Wildebeest Migration, wildlife spectacular like none other on earth.

The scenic and wildlife adventure of this short Masai Mara Camping Safari ends back in Nairobi on the last day.

Masai Mara Lodge Safari, Maasai Mara is Kenya's most celebrated game park, it offers the possibility of seeing "the big five" and many other species of game. This is where the great wildebeest migration is a spectacle to behold for any would be visitor to Kenya mainly in July and August of each year.

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara

Departing from Nairobi and drive down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley. We arrive at our mara sop lodge in the afternoon. Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their centre. Afternoon first thrilling game drive in the Masai Mara game reserve, one of East Africa's top safari destinations which in the night you can hear a chorus of different animal sounds as they communicate with each other in the darkness. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge

Maasai Mara Game Reserve is arguably Kenya's most popular game sanctuary. It is the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The film 'Out of Africa' was made to a great extent in this reserve. Virtually every type of wildlife can be seen at the Mara. A spectacle worth seeing is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from Serengeti plains across the Tanzania border and the Mara River to reach Maasai Mara grazing fields from late June. The dramatic crossing of the river and the preying on the migrants by predators can be viewed from early July to August. The reserve abounds with birdlife since dose to about 452 species have been recorded.

Day 2 -3: Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Morning and afternoon game drives in search of Africa's Big Five and other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera.

The Mara reserve is 1510 km of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife. Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. The ultimate action here is without doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 4. Maasai Mara -Lake Nakuru

Depart Maasai Mara after breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving Sarova Lion Hill Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at the lake Nakuru lodge. The Lake Nakuru Lodge is situated in a wonderland which lies in the heart of one of the Kenya’s parks (Ramsar site), only two hours leisurely drive on first class roads-from Nairobi, through some of the most exciting scenery to be seen anywhere in Africa.

The Lake Nakuru Lodge is situated in a wander land which lies in the heart of Kenya’s most densely animal-populated wetland National parks (Ramsar Site), only two hours leisurely drive-on first class road-from Nairobi, through some of the most exiting scenery to be seen anywhere in Africa.

The 165 km Nairobi-Nakuru road gives the visitors an unrivalled view of the majestic Great Rift Valley, winding through a series of lakes and forested uplands and all the way to the bustling market town of Nakuru. The views are equally impressive for the visitors who use a charter aircraft for the 25 minutes flight to the Lake Nakuru National Park airstrip situated at the southern side of the park at the Rhino Sanctuary headquarters-Naishi.

On the outskirts of Nakuru lies a truly remarkable national park which has achieved international fame as an animal sanctuary. Both Black and White Rhinos are being given a new lease of live in this 188 sq. km fully electrically fenced park and they are carefully protected. The present rhino population is fifty three and they continue to multiply.

The Rothschild's Giraffe is another unique and the park has its fair share of buffalo, leopard, wild dog, zebra, eland, water buck and the territorial lion.

Situated in the south eastern ecological niche of the park is the Lake Nakuru Lodge, an oasis of comfort and excellent services with commanding views of the lesser Flamingo interspersed with the Greater Flamingo for which Lake Nakuru is justly famous. It is another world for the visitors, where one easily forgets the hustle and bustle of the city. The lodge blends in well with the surroundings and the animals often browse peacefully close to the lodge and environs, much to the fascination of the visitors.

There is accommodation for 120 people, either in family rooms, cottages or suites. The service is unmatched anywhere in Kenya, a country renowned for hospitality. Above all, the staff is friendly and competent. There is excellent cuisine which includes outside catering, Bush barbecues, African nights and sun downers.

The park lies in Central Kenya, 140km north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru district of the Rift Valley Province. The ecosystem comprises of the lake, surrounded by mainly wooded and bushy grasslands. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area.
