Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu

Samburu Game Reserve has Several species are considered unique to the region, including its ts unique dry-country animal life: All three big cats, lion, cheetah and leopard, can be found here, as well as elephants, buffalo and hippos and Ewaso Ng'iro river contains large numbers of Nile crocodile.

After breakfast depart Nairobi at 7.30Am drive to Samburu National Reserve cross Equator, travel through changing landscapes to the rugged-semi region, though harsh but having unique species like the unusual reticulated giraffe, grevy's Zebra, Beisa, oryx, gerenuk. These species are rarely found elsewhere. The bird life is especially notable. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive is taken. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Campsite

The highlights of Samburu game reserve is the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the sanctuaries

Day 2: Samburu

Full day with morning and afternoon game drive. Optional visit to Samburu villages. Meals and overnight at Samburu Campsite

Samburu National Reserve lies in the Northern part of Kenya. Count Telekis Companion Von Holnel, visited the area in the early 1860s and described it as teeming with game especially buffalos and rhinos. The Waso Nyiro became renowned early this century as “big game country” and attracted such famous hunters as Arthur Neumann who set up a camp on the site where Samburu lodge now stands.

Samburu National Reserve is one of the 56 protected areas in Kenya. It is famous north of the equator because of the richness of flora and fauna; it can be reached through Nairobi-Isiolo-Marsabit road and Maralal-Wamba-Isolo road. Lying on the flood plains and bottom land of Waso Nyiro drainage system in the Great Rift Valley. It rises to an altitude of 2785 ft above sea level and covers an area of 390 km2.Samburu National Reserve was established in 1948 as part of the enormous Marsabit National Reserve under the national park ordinance. Marsabit National Reserve was gazetted in 1961 and the Senior Game Warden of Samburu District Rodney Elliott suggested to the Samburu County Council that an area north of the river be set aside as a game reserve. It became a reality due to foresight of the County Council and generous assistance given by several individuals and foundations. In 1962 with the financial help from Elsa Trust, Samburu Game Reserve was formed. In January 1963 the Minister for Local Government recommended Samburu National Reserve to be administered by the African District Council of Samburu.

Day 3: Samburu -Lake Nakuru

Besides the flamingos that the lake Nakuru is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake.

Depart Samburu after breakfast and leave for Lake Nakuru arriving in time for lunch for Lunch, In the afternoon game drive until late afternoon, later depart back to the Camp for Dinner and overnight at Campsite

Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru -Lake Baringo/ Bogoria

Lake Baringo, a fresh water lake reputed for bird watching, Rhino and Crocodiles are also seen.

Lake Bogoria which offers a great variety of wild game and Birds making it an ornithologists "paradise", arguably the best in East Africa. Also seethe shy greater Kudu, the majestic antelope with majestic spiraling horns, Cheetah, Impala, and Grants Gazelle. Water Bucks

Depart back to Baringo, Optional Boat Ride at the Lake. Overnight at Lake Baringo Campsite

Lake Baringo in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley is a dramatically situated freshwater lake approximately 22 km long by 11 kms wide. Evidence of its violent volcanic origins is all around, and especially in the extraordinary stepped basalt cliffs to the West of the lake. It lies at an altitude of 1100 meters and is surrounded by mountains rising to almost 3000 meters above the ambient ground level in places. Beyond the northern end of the Lake rises the dormant volcano, Karosi, 1449 meters high.

The Lake is home to hippos and crocodiles as well as an abundance of colourful birds and small reptiles. Giraffe and other grazers are also present to the north of the lake.

To enter the Lake area visitors need to pass through the Baringo District Council .Bogoria is where the hot water spring abound and plenty of medical springs.The landscape has been referred to as “nature’s studio", because of the dramatic backdrop of the eastern wall of the Great rift Valley

 

Day 5: Bogoria - Maasai Mara

The famous Maasai Mara, the jewel of Kenya's wildlife and the greatest spot for wildebeest migration,

Depart from Lake Baringo after breakfast and head for Maasai Mara National Reserve which is famous for it's great herds of wild game. All animals found in Kenya among the "big five" are found here. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drives in the Masai mara national reserve which is famous for it's great herds of wild game. All animals found in Kenya among the "big five" are found here. Masai Mara is the home to the largest population of lions, cheetah, hyena and jackals in Kenya. Masai Mara is the world famous game park and Kenya's most visited reserve.

Masai Mara is home to a breathtaking variety of game and scenery. Dinner and overnight at Mara Campsite

Day 6: Maasai Mara

FULL DAYS game drive.Dinner and overnight at Manyatta Campsite.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.

Day 7: Amboseli

Amboseli national park is famous for its big game and great scenic beauty whose entire landscape is dominated by Mt Kilimanjaro.

Depart Mara after breakfast and proceed to Amboseli which is at the slope or foot of the snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. Amboseli is Kenya's international biosphere reserve. Amboseli in Masai language means "place of water". The park has an endless supply of water which is filtered through thousands of metres of volcanic rock from Mount Kilimanjaro. Vast herd of elephant, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala and leopards are the main attraction. Lunch will be enroute to the Park. Upon arrival at the the Park have a game enroute to the camp, Amboseli is at the Slope or Foot of the snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Camp

Amboseli National park is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in Kenya. It is situated close to Kenya. It is situated close to Kenya- Tanzania border, The Park lies at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5,896m) whose snow-capped summit presents a splendid view on clear days. Amboseli National Park is often referred to as “The home of Elephants’ some of the largest Elephant herds are found here. The Game Park also contains vast groups of Zebras, Wildebeests, Giraffes, Buffalos, Hippos and Antelopes. Also to be found in Amboseli are lions, leopards, Cheetahs, Rhinos and many species of plain game.

Day 8: Amboseli

Full day with two game drives. Meals and overnight at Amboseli Camp

 

Day 9: Amboseli - Nairobi - Departure

Depart for Nairobi after breakfast, arriving late afternoon, Optional Dinner at Carnivore Restaurant at rate of 40 USD per Person. Dinner will be at 1900Hrs, later transfer to JKIA to board you flight back home
