8 Days Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, baringo, Lake Bogoria, Amboseli budget camping Safari

A fantastic 8 day Kenya budget Camping Safari which starts from Kenya's one of Africa's best game viewing destinations Masai mara!

This Safari will start off with a journey to the beautiful Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley witch offers spectacular views of the Masai Mara Park we will spend our time in search of the wildlife that makes this one of Africa's premier National Parks. The Masai Mara is especially famous for its Large Cat population and also the fact that it plays an integral role in the Wildebeest Migration, a wildlife spectacular like none other on earth and ends at a park famous for its big game and great scenic beauty whose entire landscape is dominated by Mt Kilimanjaro. The scenic and wildlife adventure of this kenya Camping Safari ends back in Nairobi on the last day.

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara

Departing from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, we drive down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley.

We arrive at Masai mara camp in time for lunch. Located near the Masai Mara Game Park, our safari camp is tucked away in the cool shade of indigenous trees, offering an escape from the African heat. We stay in permanent tents that are self-contained and fitted with feature beds and en suite bathroom areas. In the afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara game reserve where in the night you can hear a chorus of different animal sounds as they communicate with each other in the darkness.

Maasai Mara (Masai Mara) is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system.

The Wildebeest migration has now left the Maasai Mara and they are in the Serengeti National Park heading south to where they will give birth in February – March next year. They will be back in Kenya around July and leave again around late October, so look into safaris now for next year. Plan early. Made famous by the abundance of the big cats, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and the Great Wildebeest Migration and the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress There is a wide selection of places to stay in and around the Maasai Mara and the conservancies surrounding it . The conservancies surrounding the Maasai Mara have restricted number of vehicles allowing a more private game viewing of wildlife. Safaris including the Maasai Mara are without a doubt some of the best you ever get. To get the best out of your safari time, try a book at seven day safari at least and cover two or more other destinations. The Maasai Mara Ecosystem (see our map) holds one of the highest lion densities in world and this is where over TWO MILLION Wildebeest, Zebra and Thomsons Gazelle migrate annually. Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) and raises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and 570 recorded species of birds. It's about 270 km from the capital Nairobi City and takes about 5-6 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight. The road is great for the most part. There is a section from Narok town to Sekenani Gate that is dirt road but fairly good. The other road through Lemek and Aitong town is not good day all, very bumpy.

Day 2: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Full day game drives in search of Africa's Big Five and other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera.

The Mara reserve is 1510 km˛ of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife. Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. The ultimate action here is without doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost. Accommodation on this tour is at one of two safari camps located in natural settings near the Masai Mara Game Reserve. We stay in permanent tents with either twin or double beds. All tents feature en-suite bathroom areas, with flush toilets and hot showers, and are fitted with mosquito nets.

Day 3: Maasai Mara - Lake Nakuru

Pre breakfast game drive, return to campsite for late breakfast and leave your campsite and proceed to L.Nakuru arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Nakuru Hotel.

The park lies in Central Kenya, 140km north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru district of the Rift Valley Province. The ecosystem comprises of the lake, surrounded by mainly wooded and bushy grasslands. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Lake BARINGO

Early breakfast then proceed to Lake Baringo for an hour's boat ride which enables you to see hippos at close range and the bird life that inhabits this lake as over 350 species of birds have been recorded here including some that conform to a migratory pattern, as well as crocodiles and Egyptian geese which migrate all the way from western Europe

Day 5: Lake Baringo - Bogoria -Nakuru

After the breakfast leave for Lake Bogoria, this is a highly concentrated lake with flamingoes and you will be able to see the hot springs. After exploring this lake you will drive back to Nakuru for dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here Lion in the Park

Day 6: Lake Nakuru - Amboseli

After breakfast leave for Nairobi, stopping at the Great Rift Valley for a panoramic view, and continue to Amboseli. Lunch enroute .16 hours: Proceed for a game drive in search of cheetah, rhinos, elephants, and also plenty of plains game, with the Majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in the back ground.
