Itinerary
Day 1 Dar es Salaam-Selous Game Reserve
On arrival into Dar es Salaam, you will transfer to the
domestic terminal for the scheduled flight to the Selous
Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania (about 45mins). On arrival
into the Selous, you will be met and transferred to Selous
Impala Camp, where you will stay for three nights in a
luxury tent, with all meals and game viewing activities
included.
Africa's largest protected area uninhabited by man, where
Tanzania's greatest population of elephants wander in an
area bigger than Switzerland! The Selous (pronounced “Seloo”)
is considered important enough to be World Heritage Site, in
which the lucky few can experience a safari in absolutely
wild and unspoiled bush.
The park is named after Englishman, Frederick Courtney
Selous - conservationist, hunter, explorer and author, whose
adventure books on Africa became best sellers in Victorian
England.
The park varies from rolling grassy woodlands and plains, to
rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River - the lifeblood of
the park, whose tributaries form a network of lakes, lagoons
and channels. Volcanic hot springs even burst forth in
places. The Rufiji offers a superb method of game viewing
especially during the dry season when animals congregate.
Day 2 and 3 Selous Game Reserve
Full days for game viewing in the Selous. Enjoy open vehicle
morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles, birding,
boating on the Rufiji River or full day game drives with a
picnic lunch.
Day 4 Selous Game Reserve-Zanzibar
This morning you will be transferred back to the Mtemere
airstrip for the scheduled flight to Zanzibar (about 1
hour).
Day 5-9 Zanzibar
On arrival on Zanzibar, you will be transferred by road to
Kasha Lodge, where you will spend the next six nights in a
superior chalet, with breakfast and dinner included.
Zanzibar is the ultimate Indian Ocean experience, with its
fascinating historical Stone Town and magnificent beaches
Day 10 Stone Town,
This morning you will be transferred to Stone Town, where
you will spend one night in a suite at Zanzibar Palace
Hotel, with breakfast included. Spice Tours and Walking
Tours are a wonderful way to get to know this vibrant and
colourful town.
Stone Town is the old city and cultural heart of Zanzibar,
little changed in the last 200 years. It is a place of
winding alleys, bustling bazaars, mosques and grand Arab
houses whose original owners vied with each other over the
extravagance of their dwellings. This one-upmanship is
particularly reflected in the brass-studded, carved, wooden
doors - there are more than 500 different examples of this
handiwork. You can spend many idle hours and days just
wandering through the fascinating labyrinth of narrow
streets and alleyways.
Day 11 Zanzibar -Dar es Salaam
Early this morning you will be transferred to Zanzibar
Airport for the scheduled flight to Dar es Salaam. On
arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will transfer to the
international terminal.
